They keep trying, but.....

     Apparently there is a story that Napoleon once told Pope Gregory that he was going to destroy the Church.  The Pope told him to go ahead and try but he doubted that he would succeed because people had been trying for a thousand years.  I believe that we could say the same thing today.  Popes, Bishops, Kings and politicians have been trying to destroy our church now for 2000 years.  In our current day, inept leaders, hard line extremists (of all stripes) and do nothing clergy have combined to bury our faith in layers of "stuff", stuff that I am certain that Jesus would be repulsed by.  The only explanation of our continued existence is the Holy Spirit.  Despite our best efforts the Holy Spirit will not allow the Church of Jesus to fail.
